French Food

When in comes to photographing Food in France, it’s a bit of a passion for me. French Food or probably more accurately French Cuisine because food is just a part of it. The type of food, where is comes from, how it’s produced, how it looks and equally important, what wine to have with it.

French Foods.

There are foods that are quintessentially French. each region in France has it’s own claim to fame either with a regional dish, a product or even a cheese. “How can anyone govern a nation that has 246 different kinds of cheese” de Gaule famously once said. From the local markets with fresh produce to the owner run Bistros not forgetting the Michelin Starred restaurants , there’s a lot to cover. Probably several lifetimes to do it properly..

Food in France.

To say that the French take their food seriously is a bit of an understatement. Food in France is like a religion. A Spanish friend of mine once remarked that going to a Michelin Starred restaurant in France was a bit like going to church! There’s more than a grain of truth in that. In a French restaurant the food is centre stage, an object of reverence. It has provided me with a rich source of subjects and since 2013 I have been a Finalist 4 times in the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the year Competition in London. Finally winning a category last year 2021.
